With Weah, the United States is held in check

On the night of Wednesday June 15, the United States failed to beat El Salvador (1-1) for their second Concacaf Nations League match. The LOSC player played an hour but failed to score.

Weah started the game

After the crushing victory against Granada (0-5) for their first Concacaf Nations League match, Gregg Berhalter’s men did not confirm the dynamic. On a muddy lawn at Estadio Cuscatlán in El Salvador, the United States snatched a draw at the very end of the game. Team USA chased after the score for about an hour after a superb shot from Alexander Larín (35th) into the side netting.

Timothy Weah played on the right side of the American attack until he was replaced in the 61st minute by Paul Arriola. The latter was sent off nine minutes after coming into play. But El Salvador will also finish at 10 with the expulsion of Ronal Gómez (79th).

The United States are second in Group D with 4 points but one game less than leaders El Salvador. The two teams will meet again in March 2023 for the return match.
