Samsung acquitted for stealing LG OLED technology

A 7-year legal battle between LG-Display and SamsungDisplay concerning the alleged theft of certain technologies OLED of LG Display ended with the full acquittal of the accused.

South Korea’s Supreme Court upheld a second trial that returned verdicts

not guilty against a former senior executive of an LG Display contractor and four Samsung employees.

The charges related to violation of the national trade secret protection law and prevention of unfair competition law. Senior executive at LG Display’s partner outsourcing firm accused of handing over tech OLED Face Seal of LG Display and related confidential documents to Samsung Display employees more than three to four times in 2010. Face Seal is a sealing and bonding technology that extends the life of the display. range by preventing air contact with the OLED element.

The four Samsung employees have been charged with stealing confidential business information. Initially, the five were sentenced to prison terms but were released on appeal.
