Called “Ground Truth Perception”, this new technology uses extremely precise information about the vehicle’s surroundings, collected in real time, which allows the vehicle to automatically perform evasive maneuvers. “The new technology merges information from new generations of high-performance lidar, radar and cameras. The technology analyzes in real time with a high degree of precision the shape and distance of objects, as well as the structure of the area surrounding the vehicle”, indicates the manufacturer, who explains that using this information, the vehicle analyzes instantly the situation it finds itself in, automatically assesses and executes the required collision avoidance operations.
The new technology can also detect slow traffic or road obstacles in the distance, and execute lane changes accordingly. In the field of advanced collision avoidance control, it is essential to develop high-precision control technology in a digital environment. To this end, Nissan has partnered with Applied Intuition, which has very sophisticated simulation technology. 2030″, the manufacturer believes that driver assistance technology capable of avoiding very complex accidents is essential. It therefore plans to complete the development of its new “Ground Truth Perception” technology by the mid-2020s. It will first be available on certain new Nissan models, then on most new models from financial year 2030.
