The various players in wood design furniture fittings were present this Thursday at Enstib’s premises for a technical day devoted to new digital tools for the design, presentation and manufacture of furniture and fittings. A day organized as part of the Enstib – Cabinet Vision partnership (software solutions for layout) and the project “Digital Continuum” (decentralized tool for wood processing that connects production units in the area) with Critt bois (expert innovation for the wood industry).
No less than 70 participants answered the call, including various contractors, 3D designers, carpenters, craftsmen and retailers. “The idea is to refer and network professionals in the region, to know their needs and their know-how, to then be able to optimize the offer in response to the customers’ wishes”, explained Julie Bibaud, engineer in charge of the project to Critt Wood.
After a presentation of the professional context and the various available software solutions, the participants moved on to concrete matters. They were able to test or see technologies related to computer-aided design work, such as layout using 3D glasses and other virtual reality headsets, or 3D scanning of an object and its rendering after processing via a robot. But they also witnessed the launch of CNC manufacturing of a piece of furniture designed that morning during the presentation, and the creation of the 96 pieces that compose it by the Enstib students. A concrete example, to put it mildly, of the possibilities that new digital tools provide.
