Gen-Hy announces the establishment of the first French hydrogen electrolyser plant integrating its AEM (Anion Exchange Membrane) technology in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.
After the installation of the first French membrane production unit AEM in Orly (Val-de-Marne), Gen-Hy is setting up in the Pays de Montbéliard Agglomeration (Burgundy-Franche-Comté) to produce its Hy-Cube range of chlorinators on a large scale. This patented system is intended for medium-sized on-site hydrogen systems (manufacturing on site) ranging from 50kW to 4MW.
The company which is entering the industrialization phase of its solutions, and whose R&D center is based in the south of Île-de-France, has chosen to set up in the Technoland 2 business area. The construction site, with an investment of 15 million euros, will be led by SEM PMIE (Pays de Montbéliard Immobilier d’Entreprises) for a unit that will be operational in 2023.
This future site will reach 8,000 m2 on a 4-hectare plot and will contribute to the creation of 120 jobs by 2025.
Mastery of the electrolysis value chain
Production of membranes, catalytic deposits and integration of stacks… Gen-Hy intends to become the only company in the world to master the entire electrolysis value chain. As a reminder, the company has developed a new generation of electrolysers integrating its patented AEM membrane technology, the result of a five-year collaboration with French laboratories and the support of the General Directorate of Armaments.
These hydrogen generators “combine the advantages of alkaline and PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) technologies, achieving an energy efficiency of more than 85%, without the use of rare metals “says Gen-Hy.
