Elon Musk wants to launch autonomous vehicles on the roads by the end of 2022

(AOF) – The CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk, said Monday that he aims to launch by the end of 2022 in the United States and perhaps also on the Old Continent autonomous vehicles, under subject to obtaining the green light from the competent administrative authorities. The challenge doesn’t seem to be winning though. In fact, the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), the Californian agency responsible for controlling motor vehicles, is more than skeptical about the effectiveness of the manufacturer’s Autopilot.

Autopilot is an SAE Level 2 autonomous driving system. The Tesla are therefore not 100% autonomous cars, underlines the specialized press.

In addition, Tesla models are thus at the origin of approximately 70% of the reports of the 392 accidents listed, for almost all between July 2021 and mid-May 2022, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), agency United States Federal Highway Safety Authority.
