Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk could get his own airport built outside Austin, Texas, according to media reports.
Sources say Musk is developing plans for a new private airport, Teslarati reports citing Austinia.
While not much is known about the timing or even the exact location, these sources said the concept plans have been confirmed.
The airport will be located east of Austin, near Bastrop, Texas.
A private airport would be useful for Musk and his companies, especially since three of them are present in Austin. Tesla has moved its global headquarters to Austin, as has The Boring Company, according to the report.
It’s unclear how much space the CEO would need for a private airport, but the Austin Executive Airport has over 130,000 square feet of community hangars. It also has a 6,025 foot runway.
The report mentions that building an airport will not happen overnight. Airports require EPA and FAA approval.
Meanwhile, Tesla reported second-quarter revenue of $16.9 billion, up from $18.8 billion in the first quarter of this year.
Tesla reported second-quarter profit of $2.3 billion, down from the record quarterly profit of $3.3 billion posted in the first quarter of this year.
