Australia and the United States after France

World Rugby on Thursday appointed the organizers of the next two World Cups. Australia will host the 2027 World Cup, while the United States will host the competition in 2031. England will host the Women’s World Cup in 2025.

Australia and the United States will follow in France’s footsteps. World Rugby on Thursday appointed the organizers of the next two World Cups, and, unsurprisingly, the 2027 and 2031 editions were awarded to the two big favorites Australia and the United States. The former will host the competition in 2027, the latter four years later, in 2031. The organizer having the responsibility from 2027 to host the men’s tournament but also the women’s tournament, two years later, Australia will offer the men’s World Cup in 2027 and then the women’s in 2029. The United States, meanwhile, will organize the men’s World Cup in 2031, before hosting the women’s World Cup in 2033. A first for the USA, which had never had this privilege before (Canada hosted the Women’s World Cup in 2010). Bill Beaumont welcomed it in a press release, revealing in passing that the last edition of the Women’s World Cup in its current format would take place in England in 2025.

The Red Roses rewarded

β€œToday (Thursday) we have named three exceptional Rugby World Cup host nations – England, Australia and the United States – offering unprecedented certainty and a unique opportunity to drive growth and the influence of rugby around the world. It’s great for rugby, for the fans and for the host nations”, rejoiced the president of the international federation, considering this day as “a historic moment for sport and a tremendous step forward for the supporters”. “Confirmation of the destinations is based on a new partnership approach to tournament delivery, which will promote sustainable development, particularly in the United States and for women’s rugby, allowing the sport to fulfill its potential on and off the pitch and generating significant socio-economic benefits for host countries. Note that it is no coincidence that World Rugby has chosen to reward England by awarding it the 2025 Women’s World Cup. The Red Roses are indeed the best team in the world today. Beaten by the English in the “final” of the last Women’s 6 Nations Tournament, the Blues can attest to this.
