Twitter’s trial against Elon Musk will take place over five days in October, the Delaware court has decided, which will rule in the case sparked by the billionaire’s decision to drop his $44 billion plan to buy the social network.
The outcome of this first hearing is considered a victory for the company, which argued that any delay would further harm its business. Twitter refuted the argument that a thorough analysis of the fake accounts was necessary for the lawsuit, mainly because it wasn’t even a factor in the acquisition deal.
Musk’s legal team argued that the only critical date in the case would be his April deadline for financing the acquisition, rendering an expedited trial unnecessary.
The social network had described as “invalid and unjustified” the abandonment by Musk of its plan to buy Twitter, indicating that it had fulfilled all the obligations provided for in the agreement concluded in April. He therefore demanded that the multi-billionaire keep his commitment.
