A mysterious internet user proves that he mined one of the oldest bitcoin blocks in 2009

Some members of the community believe that this internet user could be Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of bitcoin and the very first bitcoin miner.

The bitcointalk.org forum, one of the oldest bitcoin forums, is still talked about. A member of this forum recently asked this question: “who has/had the oldest bitcoin mined?” and he probably didn’t expect a response from any of the netizens. On November 26, a person using the handle “OneSignature” issued a cryptographic signature referring to the first blocks of the Bitcoin blockchain.

A link with block No. 1018

“Various studies explain that this signature would prove a connection with block N°1018 of the Bitcoin blockchain, mined on … January 19, 2009! It’s only 16 days after Satoshi Nakamoto generated the Genesis Block (the very first block of the BTC network) )”, highlighted The corner journal.

As a reminder, somewhat like a digital ledger, blockchain collects all blocks (transactions) in a network, from the oldest to the most recent. The two most well-known blockchains are Bitcoin (and its own cryptocurrency bitcoin) and Ethereum (and its own cryptocurrency ether). A signature is proof of a block transaction on a blockchain.

For its part, the American media Cointelegraph conducted the investigation and reveals that “OneSignature” is associated with a protected Twitter account, created in October 2009.

Cointelegraph verified that the address used by the user does not contain any balance. The disclosure of the signature, which dates back to bitcoin’s founding period, confirms that those involved in building bitcoin’s legacy are keeping a watchful eye on the ecosystem while occasionally piqued the public’s curiosity.”

The return of Satoshi Nakamoto?

The question on everyone’s lips is whether this famous “OneSignature” is not actually Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of bitcoin, who notably mined the first blocks of bitcoins (called “Patoshi blocks”).

“Block 1018 is not a Patoshi block, so it is unlikely to be Satoshi. While many people could have mined bitcoin this early, the overwhelming evidence suggests that almost no one did,” believes Cøbra, the Bitcoin heir. org, cited by it Corner newspaper.

As a reminder, on October 31, 2008, a certain Satoshi Nakamoto – a person or group of people who have not yet been identified – published the Bitcoin “white paper”. This White bookwith the title “Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System” or translated into French “Bitcoin: a peer-to-peer electronic money system”, laid the foundation for the operation of the Bitcoin protocol.

It will be necessary to wait until January 3, 2009 before this first block of the Bitcoin blockchain is created, the famous “genesis block”. It is especially in this block that we can again read, with reference to mistrust towards the traditional financial sector, “the chancellor is about to save the banks for the second time”. And it will be on January 12 that there will be a first exchange of bitcoins between Satoshi Nakamoto and Hal Finney.
