A full hospital stay for the management of Covid-19 in 2020 cost the Health Insurance on average 7,143 euros per patient and per year, according to public figures revealed on the Data Pathologies site, inaugurated on Tuesday.
Added to this are city care (513 euros on average) and cash benefits – i.e. sickness/work leave (218 euros) for a total of 7874 euros on average per patient and per year. .
In total, 1.56 billion euros were spent in 2020 for the management of the disease in 2020. This includes hospitalizations (1.41 billion euros), city care (102 million euros ) and cash benefits (39 million euros).
Seine-Saint-Denis and Haut-Rhin in the lead
In 2020, four regions were particularly affected by the disease and posted the highest hospitalization rates. Thus Ile-de-France has a prevalence (proportion of patients cared for in hospital within the population) of 0.44%, ahead of the Grand Est (0.43%), Bourgogne-Franche- County (0.39%) and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (0.37%). On the contrary, Reunion has a prevalence of 0.08% and Brittany 0.10%.
At the departmental level, Seine-Saint-Denis and Haut-Rhin experienced the highest prevalence (0.57%).
Regarding the profile of hospitalized patients, they are more often men (53.6% against 46.4% women), mainly aged over 60 years.
